Cortni John, M.Ed., LPC-Associate

Supervised by Stacia’ Alexander, Ph.D., LPC-Supervisor

Hi, I’m Cortni.

I earned my Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lamar University and my Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Counseling from Tarleton State University. My clinical experience includes working with children, adolescents, adults, and families, with additional training and experience in trauma-focused care, including Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).

But beyond the credentials, I’m also a woman who understands what it means to wear a lot of hats.

Life can be full, beautiful, meaningful—and still be a lot to carry.

That understanding shapes how I show up as a therapist.

My goal isn’t to sit across from you as the person with all the answers. It’s to create a space where you can be honest about your experiences, understand yourself more deeply, recognize patterns that may no longer serve you, and make intentional choices about what comes next.

I believe therapy can hold both compassion and accountability. There is room to celebrate how far you’ve come while also acknowledging the places where you want something different.

You don’t have to perform here.

You get to simply be while we make room for who you are becoming.

Maybe you’re successful on paper but exhausted behind the scenes.

Maybe you’ve spent so much time being who everyone needs that you’re not quite sure who you
are anymore.

Maybe an old experience is still affecting the way you see yourself, your relationships, or the  decisions you make today.

Or maybe nothing is necessarily “wrong”—you simply know there’s more you want to  understand about yourself.

That’s where our work can begin.

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, person-centered, and tailored to you. Depending on your needs, our work may incorporate evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and trauma-focused interventions while creating space to explore identity,  confidence, relationships, transitions, patterns, and the experiences that helped shape your story.

At Becoming, you won’t be reduced to a diagnosis or expected to fit into a one-size-fits-all
process.

We’ll meet the woman who walks through the virtual door.

And we’ll start there.
